2015 AFC West Offseason Previews: Denver Broncos

The last look at the AFC West offseason is in Denver, with the champions of the division. Their offseason includes a coaching change and rests on the whim of Peyton Manning.

The Broncos are going to have a busy offseason. With many big name free agents and the need for a long term solution at quarterback, John Elway will have his hands full this offseason.

Free Agency

Potential Free Agents: Demaryius Thomas, Terrance Knighton, Orlando Franklin, Julius Thomas, Virgil Green, Rahim Moore, Tony Carter, Wes Welker, Will Montgomery.

Whew. That is enough talent for a good start to an expansion team. The Broncos have some money to work with, but it is hard to imagine them being able to bring all of these players back. Early indications are pointing toward the Broncos using their franchise tag on D. Thomas, which will eat up almost $13 million dollars.

Knighton has already been linked to the Raiders, with the thought that they will push hard to sign him. As for the Chargers, Orlando Franklin would fit right in as an upgrade at right tackle, allowing Fluker to slide into guard, or at guard himself.

The Draft

After their Divsional Round loss to the Colts, the Broncos draft position was solidified at 28. The direction they go depends on a lot of unsolved variables; including whether or not Peyton Manning returns (early indications are that he will). There will be plenty of options at offensive line at the end of the first round, which would be especially appealing for a line that struggled in 2014 that could lose Orlando Franklin. One position that we can rule out is Cornerback, as Denver could have one of the strongest trio of starting corners in the league.
