I'm not sure you could argue with the rationale of signing Tom Telesco to a multi-year contract extension last offseason. His draft picks (Jason Verrett, Keenan Allen, etc.) seemed like they were smart moves. His signings this past offseason appeared to be exactly what the team needed. Hell, even I predicted the team to go 12-4 before the season started.
However, you could very much argue with the rationale of bringing back Mike McCoy. Telesco staying with the same head coach for the San Diego Chargers, which would probably mean that the rest of the coaching staff is nuked, would be a big risk on his part.
