You hate to see it end like this. Eric Weddle's 9 year career as a Charger will end with him going on the IR.
Eric Weddle has almost certainly played his last game as a #Charger. Will be placed on IR (groin).

Many have given Weddle grief for "not playing all out" but if you watch close enough it was clear he was playing on 1 leg at times. He would be out there and he just couldn't move. He never fully recovered from a groin and it showed in his play throughout the year. I was a little perplexed that fans didn't give 1 of the best players on the team for the last 5+ years the benefit of the doubt here. Could he and his agent handled the situation better? Of course. His agent chimed in this morning on twitter.
@UTKevinAcee another bad move by the front office

@ChangeThePadres @akasendorf @UTKevinAcee were moving on. Just disappointing the way they've handled this entire year.

The first game Weddle missed this season the defense surrendered 37 points. Unfortunately, that still wasn't enough to silence critics.
Weddle is the type of player that is impossible to replace just because he masks so many deficiencies. If this is indeed the last chapter in the Weddle/Chargers story I just hope fans remember him at full strength. I some will be bitter but I hope the 2-time 1st team all-pro and 5-time all-pro gets healthy and gets a chance at a Super Bowl.
Per the Chargers website there were other transactions today along with Weddle
"Darrell Stuckey (knee), Ladarius Green (ankle) and Sean Lissemore (shoulder) were all placed on season-ending IR, while the Bolts promoted Sean McGrath and Matt Daniels to the active roster. The team also re-signed Craig Watts and Michael Huey to the practice squad."
