INJURY NEWS: Keenan Allen to miss "some time" with kidney injury

San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy announced in his Monday press conference that the team's star WR would miss "some time" with a kidney injury.

That is worrisome.

I'm no doctor but a "kidney injury" sounds pretty freaking serious. My guess is that he'll be out against the Chicago Bears a week from today, with the bye week to rest, and possibly for the rest of the season if the team's playoff chances become hopeless. No need to risk serious injury to an organ other than the brain just for the sake of trying to win football games when winning football games does nothing but hurt your draft position.

Allen has been the San Diego Chargers' best WR this year, and will be counted on to have an even bigger role with Malcom Floyd's retirement and Antonio Gates' possible retirement in the upcoming offseason. They need him healthy for the long term.
