After suffering an MCL sprain against the Green Bay Packers last week, TE Antonio Gates missed practice this whole week. After testing out his knee during warm ups, Gates has been added to the inactive list for today's game.

The loss of Gates will be somewhat lessened with the return of WR Stevie Johnson to the lineup, and with Keenan Allen being active after not being able to finish last week's game. The offense also gets a boost with the starters on the left side of the line active today for the first time in weeks, King Dunlap and Orlando Franklin are great to have back, even with the solid, yet unspectacular, play of the backups.
No other surprises on the inactive list. Word all week was that Eric Weddle would miss his first game since 2009. Rookie Denzel Perryman will get his 2nd start in place of Manti Te'o and looks to keep up his high level of play.
