Well, this is beginning to become a trend.
For the 3rd time in six weeks, San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers has been voted the FEDEX Air Player of the Week. Rivers had one of the best games of his career as he completed 43 of 65 passes for 503 yards and two touchdowns for a 99.7 passer rating in a week 6 27-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Rivers became the 8th QB to throw for over 500 yards and no interceptions in a losing cause.
Rivers edged out Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford who threw for 405 yards and four touchdowns for a 117.7 passer rating in the Lions' 37-34 overtime victory against the Chicago Bears and San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick who completed 16 of 27 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns for a 128.2 passer rating in the 49ers' 25-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Rivers won the FEDEX Air Award after a Week 1 33-28 winning effort over the Lions and a Week 4 30-27 victory over the Cleveland Browns. This is the first time this year a QB has won the award in a losing effort. Rivers has won the FEDEX Air award a total of 11 times.
