San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen was in the middle of a career day on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers when he left the game with a hip flexor injury. Despite the shortened day, Allen finished the game with 157 receiving yards on 14 receptions. The gameplan had been to target the Chargers' standout receiver early and often as he was lined up against a rookie cornerback. He had six receptions on the first offensive drive alone.
The hip flexor injury was originally reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. It is believed that Allen should not miss any additional playing time due to the injury. However, he was hampered by it on Sunday as it prevented him from being able to run and cut the way he needed to to be an effective receiver.
Hopefully for the sake of the Chargers offense, Allen will be able to reclaim his outstanding form sooner than later. He was a real offensive force on Sunday and the offense looked great with him as its focal point.
