San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers converts 4th down for touchdown at end of half

Just a beautiful play.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy decided to go for it on 4th and goal with 2 seconds left on the clock. His objectively correct decision was rewarded when quarterback Philip Rivers converted on a pass to wide receiver Dontrelle Inman. It was the second time in today's contest that Mike McCoy elected to go for it on 4th down. Earlier in the game, the decision was just as objectively correct and the call made was just as perfect, but future hall of fame tigh end Antonio Gates dropped what should have been a first down and possibly a touchdown. This is a game the Chargers were probably expected to lose but the great play of Philip Rivers and the unusually aggressive decision making of Mike McCoy has kept them in this one. They are only down by 7 at half time in Green Bay. Go Chargers, Go! Woo!
