San Diego Chargers OT D.J. Fluker gets MRI on knee

San Diego Chargers starting right tackle D.J. Fluker apparently had an MRI on his knee earlier today. What does that mean for the team going forward?

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

I don't really believe Mike McCoy when he says he didn't even talk to the medical staff about Nick Hardwick's ankle yet, but that's besides the point. Why are they doing MRIs on D.J. Fluker's knee?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only time you do an MRI is when you're looking to see if there's some sort of tear that can shut down a player's season. If the tear is there, he's done. If it's not, he'll still likely miss some time.

I think we're going to need some more information on this and soon.

As for what the San Diego Chargers would do if Fluker were shut down for the season: Willie Smith would likely become the team's starting RT, Jeremiah Sirles would be signed from the practice squad, and we would start hoping for the glorious mid-season return of Jeromey Clary. I don't like that scenario.
