Final Chargers season for Ryan Mathews? - Tom Krasovic (paywall)
At any rate, it made sense to give Mathews more cushion. As terrific as he was last year, overcoming a concussion and ankle sprain, powering the team's late run into the playoffs and never missing a start, it would’ve been foolish to be as dependent on him this year.

Jeromey Clary has surgery, season in question - Michael Gehlken (paywall)
The Chargers guard underwent hip surgery about a week ago, sources said. It's his second such operation in three months and third overall in the past six. Although the Physically Unable to Perform list contains a wide window in which a player can be activated and return to the field, it is not considered a lock he will play this year.

That tradition continued on Saturday as three undrafted rookies made the cut when rosters were announced.  They include DT Tenny Palepoi, RB Branden Oliverand CB Chris Davis.

He did miss more tackles than we’ve ever seen him miss, but still graded positively across the board, especially in coverage (72.8 NFL rating when targeted) and pass rushing (a sack, two hits, nine hurries, and a batted pass).
