Need for Speed - Bill Barnwell
You’ll notice something interesting about the teams at the top of these rankings: They’re not very good on offense. Washington was obviously excellent on offense with a healthy Griffin in the lineup two years ago, but they were 23rd in offensive DVOA last season. Freeney says Seahawks block was illegal - Tom Krasovic (paywall)
"Now," he said, "are they going to see everything? No. Should they catch that? Absolutely. Should that guy get a fine? Yes. Did he? Who knows."
Chargers Te'o sees luck on calendar - Tom Krasovic (paywall)
Te’o, as expected, sat out Monday’s practice, the team’s first since Friday’s exhibition against the Seahawks. Mike McCoy said he won’t practice this week or play Sunday against the 49ers. The season opener is Sept. 8. "Luckily it is the preseason,'' Te'o said. "Lucky we’re early."
Jason Verrett: "I'm Just Ready for My Shot" - RIcky Henne
"It means everything to me," he said. "I’m just trying to get back to where I was. I’m just trying to get back up to pace. That’s my goal; to treat every day like it’s game day and go hard in the rehab. Hopefully I’ll be out there ready to play."
New Addition to D-Line Likes Bolts' Scheme - Ricky Henne
"It’s a great scheme they run here," he said. "It’s a 3-4 hybrid. The way they play is totally different than what I’m used to, but it allows you to be an athlete. It allows you to get upfield and make a lot of plays, so it’s exciting. I’m getting used to it, but the coaches and everyone around me has been very helpful."
