San Diego Chargers waive LB Jonas Mouton, put G/T Jeromey Clary on PUP list

The San Diego Chargers are kicking off Training Camp with a number of roster moves, and today waived former 2nd round LB Jonas Mouton while placing starting OG Jeromey Clary on the PUP list.

Another A.J. Smith draft pick bites the dust today as the team announced that they have waived LB Jonas Mouton after he failed his preseason physical.

Mouton, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2011 NFL Draft, played in just three regular season games in his three seasons with the San Diego Chargers. While he had potential, he struggled to stay healthy. His story isn't unlike that of Larry English, who was released by the team yesterday.

Jeromey Clary, who is recovering from offseason surgery, was also added to the preseason Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list today. If he's not healthy enough to practice before the season begins, he must sit out the first six games of the season and then has a five week window when the team can activate him and add him to the 53-man roster. You'll remember this process from Melvin Ingram going through it last season.
