Occasionally I miss Junior Seau. No idea why. I met the guy once or twice and can't remember ever speaking to him for more than a minute, but I liked that he hovered around in San Diego as a calming force and reminder that the Chargers can compete with anyone when it comes to producing the NFL's best and brightest stars.
Now that Tony Gwynn is gone, it seems that San Diego is without a hero to watch over us. That's not entirely true, but those two guys were among the first and best sports legends this town ever knew, and I'll take the occasional heartache that comes with remembering them every few months, because I never want to forget them.
