Contract details!
CB Brandon Flowers’ 1-year deal with the #Chargers is worth up to $5M, I’m told. Can prove himself in 2014, cash in again at 29

That's less than the $6.6 million Brandon Flowers made last season and less than what he was going to make from the Kansas City Chiefs before they released him, but Flowers' new contract with the San Diego Chargers seems like more of a "prove it" deal.
In signing with San Diego, Flowers gets to face his old team twice per year. However, maybe more importantly, Flowers gets to come in and be the team's #1 CB, going up against #1 WRs from around the league. If he has a good year in 2014, he'll likely make more next year than his old contract with the Chiefs would've paid him. It makes sense for him to take this below-market deal for the opportunity it affords him.
