San Diego Chargers claim DT Chas Alecxih off waivers

The San Diego Chargers claimed DT Chas Alecxih off of waivers today to bolster their defensive line depth before Training Camp begins.

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

The San Diego Chargers added some depth to the middle of their defensive line today by claiming Chas Alecxih off of waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs.

Alecxih doesn't have much of any NFL experience to speak of, despite being in the league in each of the last two seasons, but he did start 41 games for Pittsburgh in college and put up some pretty good numbers.

I'd love to call Alecxih camp fodder, but with a Sean Lissemore and rookie Ryan Carrethers in front of him on the depth chart, it's more likely that he'll be in Training Camp as insurance in case one of those two get hurt. There is also probably at least a small chance that he has a break-out camp and wins the job as the backup NT. Crazier things have happened.

Use this as tonight's "After Dark" post and fill the comments with whatever your heart desires. Have a lovely weekend, all.
