Remember the days of contract negotiations and holdouts with draft picks? Those times were terrible. They don't exist anymore.
According to ProFootballTalk.com, the San Diego Chargers have quickly and easily signed 2nd round pick OLB Jeremiah Attaoachu to a 4-year contract. The amount of the contract wasn't made immediately available, but....
Last year's 2nd round pick, LB Manti Te'o, got a 4-year deal worth $5.1 million. He was picked 12 picks higher than Attaochu though.
Last year's #50 overall pick was used by the Chicago Bears on LB Jon Bostic. He was signed to a 4-year deal worth $3.9 million.
Therefore, we can assume that Attaochu's 4-year deal is worth somewhere between $4-5 million. Not a bad deal for an uber-talented pass-rusher.
I know the player's must've gotten something in return in the most recent CBA, but what they gave up has turned the NFL Draft from a nightmare into a wonderful dream about turning into a bird and flying around the world for NFL team owners.
