While this time of the year may be quiet, it is very important. The next three months can either end with rookies and veterans showing up to camp "in shape and focused" or, well, not.
There's nothing wrong with the veterans that enjoy their time away the game and come back mentally fresh and eager, but the rookies that spend the next few months working hard do make a big difference over those that don't. The team can't necessarily force the rookies to stay in town, work out, or study their playbooks, so this is the first test of if the GM drafted guys that want to win or guys that want to play.
