Hey guys! This is the last segment in this series I have been doing, and I'm going to open the floor to what YOU as fans want me to write about. Let me know in the comments!
Before I start, let me say that I do not endorse using the Chargers DST at all this season. On NFL.com, the Chargers finished 4th to last in points for their DST. I can't really see one CB coming in from the draft being able to turn around the team into one of the best 10 in the league. And, for fantasy football, that's what you need. To put this into perspective, 3 teams in the league scored more than twice the amount of fantasy points as the Chargers did. There are better options out there, and the Chargers probably won't come off the waiver wire next season in many leagues! Buyers beware!
The Chargers DST accounted for 17 turnovers and one touchdown last season. The biggest positive with the Chargers DST last season was that they only allowed 330 points, which I believe is good for 12th best in the league last year. Unfortunately, this isn't because the Chargers were good when it mattered (in the red zone), it means that Philip Rivers and our slow but steady offense was taking up a lot of time. If you don't believe me, take a look at the time of possession for most of the games! The Chargers won that battle most of the time, by a pretty healthy margin.
I believe that the Chargers will get at least 3 more turnovers next season, and another touchdown. Even with those numbers, that won't vault the Chargers into the top 10 DST's in the league next year.
I would love to be proved wrong, trust me. I just don't feel that the Chargers have really signed any difference makers on Defense, but we're still weeks away from the draft. Hopefully I can re-do this article, and say that the Chargers will have the greatest D in the league by far... even better than the Legion in Seattle!
Let me know in the comments what you want written about the Chargers/Fantasy Football in general over the next month or so! Have a great week everyone, see you next week!
