Mathews and Ajirotutu are among the local athletes on the sand, doing broad jumps, footwork drills and, with bands, resistance training. Large cones happen to space out along the coastline, used for navigation purposes for emergency response vehicles. These cones double as benchmarks, the distance between where some drills start and end.
