Chargers Battle but Fall 23-14 - Ricky Henne
Rivers scrambled up the right sideline for a gain of seven but was short of the markers and the team punted.  Novak’s punt went 38-yards where Amendola signaled for a fair catch at their 12.  On 3rd-and-3, Brady rushed for five yards and handed off to Blount on the next play who was stuffed by Ingram for a loss of two.  The Patriots continued to run the ball causing the Chargers to use all three of their timeouts on that drive.

Amid concern of a possible broken collarbone, the severity of Scifres' shoulder was not immediately known. The Chargers announced in the third quarter that Scifres would not return to the game.
