Open Thread: San Diego Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs, 2nd Half

New, comments

After an ugly start, the Chargers go into the half down two scores.

The San Diego Chargers have looked solid running the ball, but thanks to a banged up offensive line and a great Chiefs pass rush they are struggling to keep Philip Rivers upright. Justin Houston has matched the Chiefs franchise record for sacks in a season with 20. It would be more surprising if he doesn't break it in the second half than if he does.

The defense has mostly been able to hold Kansas City to field goals in the red zone, but against a second string quarterback you'd like to see a competent defense keep them from marching up and down the field in the first place. The Chargers have brought relatively little pressure, but when they have it has bothered Daniel who is 13 of 17with one half under his belt.

Last week, the Chargers looked to be in a much worse spot than they are now, but they were also playing against a team that had nothing to play for while the Chiefs could still get into the postseason with a little help.
