San Diego Chargers FS Eric Weddle selected to the Pro Bowl

New, comments

San Diego Chargers free safety Eric Weddle is headed two his third Pro Bowl after being recognized as one of the best players at his position this season.

Eric Weddle, who is exactly 12 days older than me and therefore fast-approaching his 30th birthday, has a lot of years left in the NFL. However, the San Diego Chargers free safety has already put together a hell of a career.

Today it was announced that Weddle had been selected to the 2014 Pro Bowl, the third time he's been given the prestigious honor and the second consecutive season in which he'll represent the AFC as one of its two top safeties.

So far this season, Weddle leads the Chargers with 86 tackles (2nd place is Marcus Gilchrist with 56) to go along with an interception, 2 forced fumbles, and 8 passes defended.

The scary thing is that this has not been Weddle's best year in the NFL, and he's still one of the greatest defenders in the league this season. That is how good he can be, and he's shown zero signs of slowing down. An honor well-earned, Mr. Weddle.
