Per Michael Gehklen, starting right guard Johnnie Troutman has been placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Troutman has had a very shaky season but was holding up fine this last game. Troutman left the game Saturday night and was replaced by Jeremiah Sirles, an undrafted rookie free agent who from Nebraska, who played very well. The team has the option of keeping Sirles at right guard or sliding Chris Watt to right guard and moving Trevor Robinson into the starting center role, assuming Watt is healthy. Gehlken suggests that the team plans to start Sirles.
RG Jeremiah Sirles set to make first career start Sunday vs. KC. Good opportunity for undrafted rookie, who impressed in career debut Sat.

Either way, the injury bug continues to bite the Chargers. The test doesn’t get any easier as they face the Chiefs next week, who feature one of the best pass rushes in the NFL.
