Philip Rivers was terrible and Philip Rivers was great. The San Diego Chargers QB threw three interceptions against the San Francisco 49ers, but also threw three TD passes in the second half of the game. When his team needed him most, Rivers responded.
Who knows if the Chargers win this game if the 49ers have something to play for other than pride, but they came back from down 28-7 at halftime and 35-21 heading into the fourth quarter. That shows incredible resiliency.
Give the Chargers' defense credit once again, as they only allowed 7 points after halftime after looking terrible in the first two quarters.
The easiest path into the playoffs for the Chargers is another win next week, in Kansas City against the Chiefs, and a loss by the Baltimore Ravens to either the Texans tomorrow or the Browns next week. The first step of that scenario is done, with this win over the now 7-8 49ers, and we'll see how the rest goes.
