LIVE: San Diego Chargers trail Denver Broncos 9-3 at Halftime

The San Diego Chargers offense is once against stagnant, but their defense has kept them in the game against the Denver Broncos.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Chargers are once against struggling on the offensive side of the ball without Ryan Mathews, trailing the Denver Broncos in time of possession (19:12 vs. 10:48), total yards (199 vs. 92), and just about every other offensive statistic. They've gone 3-and-out three times out of five drives in the first half, with their only points coming as a result of Eddie Royal's excellent punt return.

Most importantly, the Chargers trail the Broncos 9-3 at Halftime.

The good news is that the Chargers get the ball to start the second half and trail by less than one score. Also, Peyton Manning is playing with a thigh injury that could hinder him the rest of the way (or remove him from the game). This game is still winnable for Mike McCoy's team. They just need to figure out how to get the offense going.

Currently, after earlier wins by the Steelers and Ravens, the Chargers are outside of the playoff picture looking in. They'll need to win the second half to put themselves in a good spot going forward.
