What role will the Chargers play in the run up to the playoffs?

New, comments

With less than half the NFL's regular season remaining, what role will the San Diego Chargers play leading up to the playoffs? Contender, hunter, or spoiler?

Usually, I think these questions from Marshall Faulk are too easy. This week, I think he's given me a question that's almost impossible to answer.

Could the San Diego Chargers win-out and find themselves a contender to get into the playoffs? Yes.

Could they miss the playoffs while still beating a playoff contender or two along the way? Absolutely.

I think this is the time of year and the type of situation where a head coach is really tested. The best ones can turn their team around and push them towards a playoff runs. The worst ones will see their team collapse.

Mike McCoy isn't perfect, but I think he does a heck of a job as a head coach. If I'm betting on anything, I'm betting on him figuring it out and finding a way back into the playoffs like he did last season. I vote contender.

What do you think?
