The New York Jets are apparently close to benching young Geno Smith for dog-murderer Michael Vick if you believe the national media. Our own Bleeding Green Nation doesn't seem to buy this storyline, and it's hard to suggest that the Jets are better off making a run at 8 wins this year than finding out what they really have in Geno.
The Chargers have one of the finest passing offenses in the National Football League and the Jets can barely field a full secondary, but it's less of a mismatch than that suggests because their front seven is incredible. The thought Muhammad Wilkerson taking on Chad Rinehart, Doug Legursky and Johnnie Troutman nearly makes me break out in a cold sweat and I'm not the one that will be running for his life when that goes down.
Philip Rivers is a wizard moving around in the pocket, but he'll have his work cut out for him on this day. Chargers fans should still feel confident in his ability to do so, but he's going to have to earn it.
