Week five is upon us and the main issue for the presently-successful Chargers is the numerous amount of injuries that have affected the players. Here we take a look at both the Chargers' and the Jets' injury reports for the Sunday afternoon matchup.
San Diego Chargers Injury Report
The Good News:
Jason Verrett seems to be on track to play against New York, as well are Ladarius Green and Donald Butler. All these players participated throughout the week in practice and will help bolster the already strong defense against the struggling Geno Smith.
The Bad News: Without Dwight Freeney and Corey Liuget, the defense loses two key players that generate not just pass rush, but quarterback hurries and running stops. Add the fact that Attaochu is officially out for the game and the Bolts seem to be fielding a very shaky pass rushing squad.
New York Jets Injury Report
The Good News: It seems like a banged up Chargers pass rush will be going up against a banged up Jets offensive line. The secondary will have an added lift, with Decker and Nelson both questionable for Sunday. With the struggles of Geno Smith prevalent, we'll see if he can survive without his top wideout and weapon.
The Bad News: The young guns are getting healthy. With Calvin Pryor playing decently well and Dee Milliner returning, the secondary of the Jets seem to be getting a much needed boost. With Rivers playing at near-MVP level, we'll see if these younger players can go head-to-head against Felipe Rios.
