Per reports, the San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt has already interviewed for at least one head coaching job this week in addition to preparing for Sunday's divisional round playoff game against the Denver Broncos. Whisenhunt will also be giving another interview on Saturday in Denver. At this time, we have no indication what teams have interviewed him, but several teams have been linked publicly by news reports to having interest in the former head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
It is unclear what effect, if any, these interviews and the necessary interview prep work had or will have on his ability to prepare for the Broncos' defense. Mike McCoy, notably, was allowed to interview for jobs during Denver's playoff run last season (a run which failed). That opportunity led to McCoy getting the San Diego Chargers head coaching job, and he has expressed publicly that he wants to run his team similarly to how John Fox runs his.
If the Chargers continue to win in the playoffs, Whisenhunt cannot be hired away until they are eliminated, or the season ends.
