"I'm Probably the Biggest Philip Rivers Fan" - Trent Dilfer
I’m excited about this team. I’m a realist. If football is about 16 deep, they could contend for the Super Bowl. At 22 they are still pretty good. My concern, like it is for many teams, is from 23-53. Any time you have a change with a new general manager and new head coach the bottom part of the roster is changing. So I don’t know. But I’m excited to see those 16 especially. I think you still have some guys at their positions that can be as good as anybody in this league.
If they're improved, Bolts need to show it - Nick Canepa (paywall)
The common opinion seems to be the Chargers are about to do as well as the San Diego public does electing mayors.
Sean Payton not a hero - Bruce Laird (paywall)
I’d call that system unfair. In fact, I’ve got a few other "un-" words for the bounty scheme – unwarranted, unethical, unconscionable. And, having waited to hear an apology or some remorse from Payton, another "un-" word comes to mind – unrepentant.
Now, Antonio Gates knows Watt's up - Tom Krasovic (paywall)
D.J. Fluker said he welcomes the chance to go against Watt, calling him a "very physical" performer. "I can't wait," said the rookie right tackle. "That's where you establish yourself as a player; not only that, as a teammate as well, because you're going to give everything you've got for the man next to you."
Chargers odds and ends - Bill Williamson
