San Diego Chargers release Fozzy Whittaker, sign Nick Becton

The San Diego Chargers are making roster moves in preparation for their game against the Dallas Cowboys tomorrow. Step one is adding offensive line depth to account for all the injuries.

I guess this was predictable.

With the possibility of LT King Dunlap and RG/RT Jeromey Clary both missing tomorrow's game against the Dallas Cowboys, the San Diego Chargers had to make sure that they had another offensive tackle on the roster to play backup. Enter Nick Becton, an undrafted free agent that had a good training camp and really good final preseason game before being cut and signed to the Chargers practice squad.

Fozzy Whittaker, San Diego's kick returner this year, was released to make room on the roster for Becton. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if, a few days from now, Fozzy is re-signed and Becton is waived (and eventually back on the practice squad).

As for who will return kicks for the Chargers against the Cowboys, your guess is as good as mine. I suppose Eddie Royal is the logical selection, being the only one on the roster with any experience returning kicks in the NFL, but he's an injury-prone player that plays a position with not much in the way of depth.
