In what is truly sad news, former San Diego Chargers defensive back Paul Oliver, 29, has taken his own life. Kevin Acee of UT San Diego reported on Twitter:
Former Charger Paul Oliver is dead at 29. Committed suicide ... A good dude. Always enjoyed talking to him. Dang, this is sad.

Paul Oliver played with the Chargers for the entirety of his five year NFL career which ended after the 2011 season. He was, by all accounts, a good person. Our hearts go out his friends and family.
Oliver was perhaps most famous for containing the great Calvin Johnson during the 2006 Georgia/Georgia Tech game, and after being ruled ineligible following that season he was selected in the 2007 supplemental draft by the Chargers.
The surprising news of Oliver's suicide is just exceptionally sad, so please use the comment section responsibly. Share a positive memory of Oliver if you can.
UPDATE: From Michael Gehlken of UT San Diego via Twitter:
Statement from Paul Oliver's family: "We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers. We request privacy in the wake of this tragic loss."
