San Diego Chargers final roster cuts: Meachem, Keiser among 11 released on Saturday

The San Diego Chargers made their final roster cuts today and got the team roster down to 53 players. Here are the final 11 players that were released.

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

The entire list of players released by the San Diego Chargers on Saturday:

  • Nick Becton, T
  • Frank Beltre, OLB
  • Ben Cotton, TE
  • Marcus Cromartie, CB
  • Logan Harrell, DE
  • Michael Hill, RB
  • Josh Johnson, CB
  • Thomas Keiser, LB
  • Robert Meachem, WR
  • David Molk, C
  • David Rolf, TE

Looks like Tourek Williams made the team over Keiser and Beltre, which isn't all that surprising. Meachem was a cut that had to happen if the team wants to give themselves flexibility for next year.

I'm sad to see Marcus Cromartie cut, but he hasn't been very good this preseason. If the team is only keeping four cornerbacks, is that a sign that Brandon Taylor has won the strong safety spot away from Marcus Gilchrist?

Mike Harris stays around as the team's backup offensive tackle and Johnnie Troutman makes the team as the backup guard. We'll post the full 53-man roster shortly.
