Open Thread: San Francisco 49ers at San Diego Chargers, First Half (preseason)

New, comments

In the fourth and final preseason game for both teams, the San Francisco 49ers travel to San Diego to take on the Chargers.

It's game time! (Well, it will be at 7pm PDT)

I know there are plenty of people out there that think that the fourth preseason game is meaningless, and that coaches don't factor in player performance from this game when deciding Saturday's roster cuts, but I whole-heartedly disagree with that.

Will tonight's game be as exciting as a regular season game? Absolutely not, but it is an important game for the coaches, the players that are on the field and the overall depth of the team. Even if they don't end up making the cut in San Diego, an outstanding performance in this game could do a lot to get a player noticed by other teams around the league that might be willing to take a chance on him.

As always, we're hoping for no injuries and a good game by every player wearing blue and gold.
