Open Thread: San Diego Chargers at Chicago Bears, 2nd Half (preseason)

The Chargers had a terrible first half and trail the Bears 20-7 at halftime.

Well, uhhhh, that was something.

The score is 20-7 after the first half, but the story of this game will be how poor the first-team Chargers offense looked against the first-team Bears defense (that benched their top defensive linemen for the game). Philip Rivers and his offensive line looked really terrible, at least as far as a passing game goes.

The offensive line, specifically D.J. Fluker, looked great at run blocking. Ryan Mathews followed his line for a nearly-dominant first half, and carried the ball with two hands through the hole.

Richard Goodman looked terrible at kick returns, Keenan Allen had issues on punt returns and also as a receiver.

In total, the Chargers are struggling against the Bears. I imagine, with Brad Sorensen and the third team offense coming in, that things will turn around for the Chargers in the second half but we'll still be able to worry about Rivers.
