Earlier today, the San Diego Chargers announced that they had signed 27 year old Cornerback William Middleton, who has spent the first four years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Some may take this as a sign that the Chargers coaches are not happy with the current crop of Cornerbacks on the roster, including former Jaguar Derek Cox, but Middleton probably isn't threatening anyone for a starting job.
From what I can gather, Middleton is pretty much invisible against the run and struggles against spread-passing attacks. He's done better in pass coverage against more basic offensive sets, which leads me to believe that he is better in man-coverage than he is in zone.
It's camp, which means anything can happen, but don't expect Middleton to be much more than a camp body or a Special Teams player.
