I'm going to try my best to capture every big and semi-big news story regarding the San Diego Chargers this offseason, so that if you walked away from the team after Week 17 and came back today you could be completely caught up.
Wish me luck, although I'm sure I'll end up leaving out something huge.
Dec 31, 2012: San Diego Chargers Fire Norv Turner and A.J. Smith
Dean Spanos had had enough. The San Diego Chargers announced that Head Coach Norv Turner and General Manager A.J. Smith will not return for the 2013 season.
Jan 3, 2013: Rich Bisaccia Leaves the Chargers for Auburn University
Special Teams Coach Rich Bisaccia took a job with Auburn University to be the Special Teams Coach and Running Backs Coach for the Tigers. A month later, Auburn let him out of his contract so that he could be named the Special Teams Coordinator and Running Backs Coach for the Dallas Cowboys.
Jan 9, 2013: Tom Telesco is (Officially) Your New Chargers GM
After an exhaustive search, that included the temporary addition of former Packers General Manager Ron Wolf, the San Diego Chargers officially named Tom Telesco as their new General Manager to take over for A.J. Smith.
Jan 15, 2013: Mike McCoy Accepts Offer to be San Diego Chargers Head Coach
Former Denver Broncos Offensive Coordinator Mike McCoy was hired to take over for Norv Turner as Head Coach of the Chargers.
Jan 17, 2013: Ken Whisenhunt is the Next Chargers Offensive Coordinator
The San Diego Chargers have signed Ken Whisenhunt to be their new Offensive Coordinator. In addition, Mike McCoy announced that Whisenhunt would be in charge of play-calling on gameday.
Jan 18, 2013: John Pagano Officially Remains San Diego Chargers Defensive Coordinator
Even though his Head Coach has changed, John Pagano will remain as the Defensive Coordinator of the San Diego Chargers after a (moderately) successful first season on the job.
Jan 22, 2013: San Diego Chargers Fire Hal Hunter, Charlie Joiner Retires
It was time to clear out for Offensive Line Coach (and Offensive Coordinator) Hal Hunter and Wide Receivers Coach Charlie Joiner, who retired.
Jan 22, 2013: San Diego Chargers Hire Joe D'Alessandris (OL) and Fred Graves (WR)
The San Diego Chargers announced the replacements for Hal Hunter and Charlie Joiner as the team's Offensive Line Coach and Wide Receivers Coach.
Jan 23, 2013: Mike McCoy Finalizes San Diego Chargers Coaching Staff
Add Frank Reich (QB), Ron Milus (Secondary), Kevin Spencer (Special Teams) and Kent Johnson (Strength & Conditioning) to the list of new coaches at Chargers Park.
Jan 31, 2013: NFLPA Requests Replacement for Chargers Team Doctor David Chao
The NFL Players' Association does not trust David Chao and does not want him treating players anymore. They asked the league to replace him as Team Doctor of the San Diego Chargers.
Feb 20, 2013: San Diego Chargers Claim CB Johnny Patrick Off Waivers
The San Diego Chargers claimed Cornerback Johnny Patrick off waivers from the New Orleans Saints. He's expected to compete for the fourth Cornerback spot.
Feb 26, 2013: Washington Redskins Hire A.J. Smith as a Consultant
The former San Diego Chargers General Manager was hired by the Washington Redskins as a front office adviser and consultant.
Mar 8, 2013: San Diego Chargers Release SS Atari Bigby
The San Diego Chargers' starting Strong Safety in 2012 was released by the team, leading to Marcus Gilchrist switching positions and being the projected starter at SS.
Mar 13, 2013: San Diego Chargers Sign G Chad Rinehart
Offensive Guard Chad Rinehart signed on with the San Diego Chargers and was reunited with Offensive Line Coach Joe D'Alessandris. He's expected to be the team's starting Left Guard.
Mar 13, 2013: San Diego Chargers Sign CB Derek Cox to Four-Year Deal
The Chargers signed Derek Cox from the Jacksonville Jaguars to be the team's new #1 Cornerback, filling maybe the largest hole on the roster.
Mar 15, 2013: San Diego Chargers Sign RB Danny Woodhead to Two-Year Contract
The Bolts signed free agent Running Back Danny Woodhead to a two-year contract. He's expected to play a large role in the team's new offense.
Mar 15, 2013: Chargers re-sign RB Ronnie Brown to one-year deal
Veteran running back Ronnie Brown has been re-signed by the Chargers and would seem to fill the remaining hole at that position.
Mar 27, 2013: San Diego Chargers (Finally) Release LT Jared Gaither
A year after signing him to a four-year contract worth more than $24 million, the San Diego Chargers released starting Left Tackle Jared Gaither.
Apr 3, 2013: San Diego Chargers Sign DE Jarius Wynn
Needing depth along the defensive line, Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco signed former Packers and former Titans Defensive End Jarius Wynn.
Apr 15, 2013: San Diego Chargers sign tight end Dallas Walker
Walker seemed like he would be the last "big name" free agent that the Chargers signed. He's expected to play backup TE and possible take over for Antonio Gates in a few years.
Apr 23, 2013: Chargers officially sign Gronkowski
Not that Gronkowski. Chris Gronkowski, who had played some Fullback and Special Teams for the Denver Broncos previously.
April 29, 2013: 2013 San Diego Chargers Draft Class
A starting Tackle, a starting LB, a play-making WR and a possible starter at Nickel CB? This could end up being a great draft for Tom Telesco.
May 14: 2013: San Diego Chargers OLB Melvin Ingram suffers torn ACL
The San Diego Chargers' first round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and best pass rusher on the team, Melvin Ingram suffered a torn ACL in the second day of OTAs and in expected to miss the entire 2013 season.
May 18, 2013: San Diego Chargers sign OLB/DE Dwight Freeney
Of course I forgot about the biggest free agent signing of the season and the injury the preceded it.
May 21, 2013: San Diego Chargers sign Left Tackle Max Starks
Boom! After searching far and wide for someone to keep King Dunlap off the field, the San Diego Chargers signed Left Tackle Max Starks, the final piece of the puzzle for a totally revamped offensive line.
June 20, 2013: Doctor David Chao quit after hospitals barred him from performing surgeries
