Chargers-Chiefs final score: Chargers get into playoffs with 27-24 win over Chiefs backups in Overtime

I was almost writing about the worst choke job in the history of the NFL. The San Diego Chargers almost lost the game, and their chance at the playoffs, to the Kansas City Chiefs backups. It took a missed FG by Ryan Succop at the end of regulation for Mike McCoy's team to make it to Overtime, and it took a stop by the Chargers defense (which hadn't really stopped the Chiefs all game long) to get the win.

The coaches and the players deserve every bit of criticism that they'll receive for almost losing this game. Pretty much everyone that isn't Ryan Mathews played terrible, and the gameplan was awful from both the offensive and defensive coordinators.

However, none of that matters now. The Chargers are somehow, miraculously, the 6th seed in the AFC West with a 9-7 record. They'll head to Cincinnati next week to take on the Bengals, who went 8-0 at home this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the Chargers got blown out in that game, and I wouldn't be surprised if they came away with the win either. That's just the type of team, and year, it has been and will continue to be.

Former Chargers GM A.J. Smith used to state, repeatedly, that the goal is to get into the playoffs and it's anyone's ballgame from there. Well, it took Smith getting fired, but the Chargers have gotten into the playoffs for the first time since 2009.

Now it's anyone's ballgame.
