Apparently, there are a lot of BFTB readers in Orange County. A few weeks ago, during an episode of Gennaro-ly Speaking, a few of them started chatting with each other and asked me to formulate a plan for one of our infamous meetups. Since then, I've gotten a few e-mails and tweets from others expressing interest as well.
So, for the first time ever, we're doing an OC meetup. As per usual, it's last minute and there's no real plan besides "This is where we'll be."
This is where we'll be
Slater's 50/50
24356 Swartz Dr
Lake Forest, CA 92630
(In the Big 5 Shopping Center off El Toro Road)
This is when we'll be there
10:00 am on Sunday, November 24, 2013. Yes, this Sunday.
This is why we'll be there
Because the San Diego Chargers will be playing the Kansas City Chiefs, and we'll probably need to be in front of a well-stocked bar while we're watching.
Because I wanted to do it for a road game (so as not to interfere with the plans of season ticket holders), and waited to the point where the only road game left is this or 5:30pm on a Thursday night (which would be impossible for me to make, much less anyone driving up from San Diego).
Because Slater's is open for breakfast.
Because Slater's is very Chargers-friendly.
Because it's in the OC.
Because you asked for it!
This is why you should come
Despite the fact that these events are always poorly planned by me (Slater's has no idea we're coming, but I've heard they're used to a large crowd for football on Sunday), they're always fun. In the case of this Sunday, it'll either be a wild party (UPSET SPECIAL!) or a chance to commiserate instead of screaming at our televisions in solitude. Either way, make the drive!
I want to see old faces (I could've chosen the Huntington Beach location, but I wanted it to be closer to San Diego) along with new faces at this thing. Let me know in the comments if you plan on making it out. Chiefs fans are welcome to join us, as we're usually more civil in person than we are online.
