I like finding interesting stats regarding the San Diego Chargers that I can share with you. I love finding interesting stats regarding the Chargers that seem to correlate to wins. It makes me feel like I'm helping the team. Today, I may have found one of those.
First, here are two stats that mean absolutely nothing:
When Ryan Mathews gets 15+ touches, the 2013 Chargers are 4-3.
When Danny Woodhead gets 15+ touches, the 2013 Chargers 1-2.
However, when their powers combine.....
When Mathews and Woodhead combine for 30+ touches, the 2013 Chargers are 4-0.
That's fun, right? Now we can watch the box score during games and countdown to 30 combined touches between the two running backs, because apparently that is the key to victory for Ken Whisenhunt and Mike McCoy.
Also, when you look at the record of 30+ touches combined and compare it to the record when Woodhead gets 15+ touches, it's obvious that we've been right to think that there is such a thing as too much Woodhead in the gameplan.
The 2013 San Diego Chargers haven't won a game without Mathews and Woodhead combining for at least 30 touches. They also haven't lost a game in which those two combined for 30 touches. That is why I think these guys should get some recognition as this week's Chargers Teammates of the Week.
