In what I suppose is the corresponding move for Lavelle Hawkins being signed, the San Diego Chargers will place wide receiver Malcom Floyd on Injured Reserve and he'll miss the final 14 games of the 2013 season.
Chargers wide receiver Malcom Floyd (neck) is out for the season, per agent Buddy Baker.

Whether it's torn hamstring, collapsed lung suffered in KC or sprained neck, not sure how much more Malcom Floyd can take. Great, great guy

As Marty points out, this isn't Malcom's first go-around with a major injury. In fact, the lanky WR has had a difficult time to staying healthy during his professional career.
There are two more years left on his contract with the San Diego Chargers, but it would save the team $2.25 million in cap space if he's cut before next season. Could being carted off the field in Philadelphia be the last we see of Malcom Floyd as a Charger? Could it be the last we see of him in the NFL? I certainly hope not, but I'm getting tired of watching him get seriously injured and I bet he and his family are too.
