Tom Telesco earns 2nd interview with Chargers

The Colts' director of player personnel is one of the finalists for the Chargers' job.

The San Diego Chargers conducted a second interview with Tom Telesco on Tuesday for their vacant general manager position, according to the NFL Network's Albert Breer.

Telesco is the director of player personnel for the Indianapolis Colts.

The Chargers will choose between Telesco and their own director of player personnel, Jimmy Raye.

The Chargers are trying to replace former general manager A.J. Smith, who was fired Dec. 31 along with coach Norv Turner. Smith was the general manager for the Chargers since 2003.

In the 10 years under Smith, the Chargers went to the playoffs five times. But in those five years San Diego only made it to an AFC Championship game once, and lost.

This season was the third straight year the Chargers failed to make the playoffs. The Chargers went 7-9 and failed to score 400 points in a season for the first time since 2003, Smith's first year as the team's GM.
