So, thanks to an anonymous tip and some technical wizardry from those on the BFTB staff, I am proud to report that I am following the every movement of Dean Spanos, Ron Wolf, John Spanos and anyone else that's part of the "brain trust" that is interviewing potential candidates to fill A.J. Smith's shoes as General Manager of the San Diego Chargers.
How, you ask? Well, it's quite simple. Dean Spanos owns a private jet, and that private jet has been making trips around the country and landing in spots that coincide with previous rumored candidates. For instance...
On Thursday, January 3rd, the jet left San Diego and spent the evening in Indianapolis. This would lead us to believe that Tom Telesco was interviewed for the job on that day.
On Friday, January 4th, the jet left Indianapolis and landed at the Teterboro Airport, otherwise known as the airport for private jets to land if the passenger is heading to New York City. This would line up with rumors that the Chargers are interested in the Giants' Marc Ross for the GM position.
On Saturday, January 5th, the "brain trust" will be flying to Scottsdale, Arizona. Say, that wouldn't be where Steve Keim is, would it? Indeed, it would be.
If we're to believe all of the names that were rumored for the position (which you can see here), and we're working under the assumption that they interviewed Jimmy Raye before flying out of San Diego, that would leave just Tom Gamble and David Caldwell left to interview after today. Their journey from NYC to AZ would seem to suggest that they're not going to Atlanta to visit with Caldwell, but perhaps both of these men are just waiting for the playoffs to settle down before they agree to schedule anything.
