Rich Bisaccia Leaves the Chargers for Auburn University

San Diego Chargers' Special Teams Coach Rich Bisaccia has taken a job with Auburn University to be the Special Teams Coach and Running Backs Coach for the Tigers.

The San Diego Chargers now have one more vacancy to fill, that of Special Teams Coach, after word today that Rich Bisaccia (who was also the Assistant Head Coach) has taken a job with Auburn University to act as Special Teams Coach and Running Backs Coach for their football program.

Bisaccia took a historically bad special teams unit over after the 2010 season and brought them to respectability immediately. Rich was considered to be one option to eventually replace Norv Turner as Head Coach, but now it appears that won't happen.

This could actually serve as way to make the Chargers job more appealing, as an incoming coach will be able to bring a trusted friend/associate along with him to work as the Special Teams Coach instead of being forced with work with Bisaccia. There is a possibility that Carlos Polk, former Chargers Linebacker and current Assistant Special Teams Coach, could take over the position.
