San Diego Chargers Roster Cuts, 10 players released

The San Diego Chargers released 10 players today, reducing their roster from 90 to 80. It was the first of three NFL preseason roster cut dates. There weren't many surprises, but a few familiar names have been released.

Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

In accordance to NFL rules, the San Diego Chargers had to trim their roster from 90 players down to 80 today. Here are the 10 players that were released to make that happen:

  • Edwin Baker, RB
  • Colin Baxter, C
  • Greg Brown, CB
  • Tony Burnett, S
  • Deon Butler, WR
  • Brandyn Dombrowski, G
  • Nathan Enderle, QB
  • Richard Kent, P
  • Jamarcus McFarland, DL
  • Dallas Walker, TE

No real surprises on the list, but I was hoping that Baxter and Walker could stick around. Also, Tony Burnett is a fun follow on Twitter. Maybe he'll end up on the practice team.

This looks to be the end of the line in San Diego for Brandyn Dombrowski, who has been with the Chargers for a few seasons after playing with the San Diego State Aztecs.

The team now lists 80 players on the roster. The roster needs to be down to 75 players by 1:00 p.m. PT Tuesday and down to 53 players by 3:00 p.m. PT Saturday, Aug. 31.
