Live-Chat: Tom Gower from Football Outsiders

It's finally here! Tom Gower from Football Outsiders has agreed to jump into our comments to take your questions about the 2011 and 2012 San Diego Charger squads, and anything else FO-related.

Tom wrote the Chargers section of the 2012 Football Outsiders Almanac, so he should be able to answer just about any question you have for him about the Bolts....except for what was wrong with Philip Rivers last year. That one will probably forever remain a mystery.

Anyway, I'll kick things off with a few questions of my own for Tom to answer in the comments:

  1. You stated a few times that Norv Turner has never had a "lucky" season like so many other Head Coaches around the league have. Do you think that's pure dumb-luck, or do you think he has whiffed on the "lucky" opportunities that have been thrown in his lap?
  2. How difficult is it to project the first-year impact of a rookie? (This question is in regards to Melvin Ingram)
  3. Do you think the Chargers had more, less or an average amount of major injuries to major players in 2011? What about years before?
  4. Is it possible that the poor play of Quentin Jammer, Antoine Cason and Marcus Gilchrist in 2011 was greatly affected by a poor pass-rush and poor play-call?
