Today, the San Diego Chargers have assigned numbers to their 2012 draft class (although not the undrafted free agents). Here they are:

  • Melvin Ingram - #54 (wore #6 in college)
  • Kendall Reyes - #91 (wore #99 in college)
  • Brandon Taylor - #28 (wore #15 and #18 in college)
  • Ladarius Green - #89 (wore #89 in college)
  • Johnnie Troutman - #63 (wore #74 in college)
  • David Molk - #60 (wore #50 in college)
  • Edwin Baker - #26 (wore #4 in college)

I like them. Number 54 belonged to Stephen Cooper for so long that it will seem a little odd on a pass-rusher at first, but that's okay.

Brandon Taylor takes Steve Gregory's job and a his number, so that's fun. I have no idea why Troutman needed a number if he probably wont play until next year, but whatever.

Anyway, if you're the type to wear a rookie's jersey to the team's game in week 1, you can now go to the Chargers' official online store and customize a jersey to match up with the number above of your favorite new rookie.
