John takes the day off and Wonko steps in. My opinions on the draft are usually subdued. I like to take time to reflect before loving or hating anything. That being said, the initial returns are good. The Chargers are pleasing all the draft experts by picking some the best players available at the times of their selections. It's a refreshing sight to see. Some may criticize the team for not drafting for certain needs, but I'll never be that guy. Take the best player on the board and let the rest sort itself out.
So, what are we looking for today? The man pictured could gain some competition today. I think many will be looking for the team to draft someone who plays his position. The chances however that a player drafted at this point will compete for a starter's job this coming season is pretty small. That, however, doesn't mean they won't draft a quality prospect at the position who could step in down the line. A cornerback could also be drafted to fill out depth at the position. You could also see a project at Nose Tackle taken. Perhaps an Inside Linebacker or Tight End to replace someone in 2013 who is on a one year contract in 2012. Maybe even a Quarterback with one of their final picks. We'll just have to wait and see.
Picks today come at selection 110 (4th), 149 (5th), 226 (7th) and 250 (7th comp.)/
