Another day, another lack of any Chargers news. Sorry kids, I'll work on topics to write about when nothing has happened for weeks and nothing will happen for weeks. Promise.

In the meantime, I know what position I want in the first round of the draft for the Chargers. I've been thinking about this.

A Defensive End isn't going to supplant Luis Castillo, Corey Liuget or Vaughn Martin.

An Outside Linebacker really isn't pushing Shaun Phillips (the team's best defensive player for years), Antwan Barnes (the team's best pass rusher for the last two seasons) or Jarret Johnson (arguably the team's biggest FA acquisition) off the field. Heck, if they get one and Larry English has a great preseason....what then? Cut English? Carry 5 OLBs and suffer somewhere else on the roster? That just feels like a waste of a first-round pick.

It's too early for a TE after signing back Randy McMichael and grabbing Rosario Dawson.

WR is now covered after the Chargers seemingly signed everyone that could catch balls and wasn't named Vincent Jackson.

OL is an option. LG is still unsettled, but Silver Fox Journalist's article today makes it sound like Tyronne Green is locking that spot up. RT could be improved upon, but it's not entirely necessary.

There's really only two serious options. One, you draft a Strong Safety and push Darrell Stuckey back to back-up duty and special teams (where he's been awesome). Two, you draft a RB to split carries with Ryan Mathews and create a run-first type of offense. The first is, predictably, the better option. Any other draft pick probably doesn't get on the field until 2013, and who wants that?
