It's not the Williams that most San Diego Chargers fans have been waiting to hear about, but the Chargers signed LB Demorrio Williams today. Williams, like Luis Castillo, was a free agent before the start of free agency because the Chiefs released him yesterday (as opposed to his contract expiring).
Williams is an 8-year veteran that spent the last 4 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He's been an on-and-off starter, with his two best seasons coming in 2005 and 2009, but hasn't started a game for Kansas City in the last two seasons.
Williams will be 32 years old by time training camp rolls around, but will probably serve as the replacement for the 34-year-old Na'il Diggs who is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. That means he'll fight to be the 4th Inside Linebacker on the depth chart and a contributor on special teams.
